V.D.M.I.Æ. (v4.1), live at New River Studios, London (2019)

I am an artist and art historian (or critical theorist if you prefer), with the major focus of my work being on the relationship between politics, aesthetics, and history. My most recent major visual project was an opera for robots – V.D.I.M. Æ. – based on the German Peasants’ War of 1525.

My writing and research tend to focus on early modern print culture, especially in Germany in the sixteenth century, looking mainly at ephemeral and popular prints. I teach visual communication at Southampton Solent University.
